Implications of time-delayed feedback control on limit cycle oscillation of a two-dimensional supersonic lifting surface,

چکیده
In this paper, the problem of implications of time delay feedback control of a two-dimensional supersonic lifting surface on the flutter boundary and on its character, that is, benign or catastrophic, is addressed. In this context, the structural and aerodynamic nonlinearities are included in the aeroelastic governing equations. The model and the associated theory are developed for linear and nonlinear plunging and pitching full-state proportional and velocity feedback controls. Center manifold reduction and normal form theory are applied to investigate the stability in the post-flutter flight speed regimes. Numerical simulations are carried out to determine the implications of time delay in the considered controls, but are restricted to the cases of proportional feedback control and no structural damping. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Aeroelasticity of Time-Delayed Feedback Control of Two-Dimensional Supersonic Lifting Surfaces
Determination of the nature of the critical flutter boundary (benign/catastrophic) and its control constitute important issues that can be addressed within the nonlinear formulation of lifting surface theory. The main attention of this paper consists in the development of a computational approach enabling one to get a better understanding on time-delayed dynamics as applied to this important ae...
متن کاملTime-Delayed Feedback Control of 2-D Supersonic Flapped Wings
This paper is concerned with the time delayed active control of a three-degrees-offreedom supersonic lifting surface in the vicinity of the flutter boundary. Particular attention is given to the study of bifurcation and stability in the vicinity of critical flight speed at which Hopf bifurcation occurs. The critical flight speed is defined in terms of the eigenvalues of the linearized system. H...
متن کاملNonlinear Time Delayed Feedback Control of Aeroelastic Systems: a Functional Approach
In addition to its intrinsic practical importance, nonlinear time delayed feedback control applied to lifting surfaces can result in interesting aeroelastic behaviors. In this paper, nonlinear aeroelastic response to external time-dependent loads and stability boundary for actively controlled lifting surfaces, in an incompressible flow field, are considered. The structural model and the unstead...
متن کاملOscillation Control in Delayed Feedback Systems
The control of limit cycle oscillations is discussed for nonlinear delayed feedback systems. Through a center manifold reduction the effects of the control parameters on the periodic behavior are determined. The results are applied to the perturbed harmonic oscillator under the action of delayed feedback of position, which is a prototype system commonly arising in diverse biological and industr...
متن کاملAsymptotically stable limit cycles generation by using nullspace decomposition and energy regulation
In this paper we address the problem of generating asymptotically stable limit cycles for a fully actuated multibody mechanical system through a feedback control law. Using the concept of conditional stability the limit cycle can be designed for a lower dimensional dynamical system describing how the original one evolves on a chosen submanifold and the corresponding velocity space. Moreover, th...
